If you are struggling but have hesitated to get help, I would love to help you.

I have always had a passion for helping others and I have always had compassion for the challenges other people face. Therefore, I decided to pursue an undergraduate degree in psychology at Emory University and received my B.A in 1989. In 1993, I furthered my studies by earning a masters degree in from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. I loved every moment of learning and I couldn’t wait to put my education into practice in the real world.

In 1993, I became one of the first school social workers ever to be hired in Baltimore County schools. I had the opportunity to help children and families succeed in school. I met with children individually and in small groups to address issues such as bullying, bereavement, divorce, anxiety and so much more. I assisted parents in teaching them effective parenting strategies and I trained teachers how to use behavior modification techniques that would allow them to have more control over their classrooms. I loved my job and was rewarded every day for the positive impact I had on students.

In 2002, I opened a private practice so I could continue helping others create positive changes in their life on a more intensive basis. I have had the fortunate opportunities to work with couples who have become adversaries. I have provided them with the necessary tools to be partners on the same team who can experience happiness and closeness again. In addition, I have helped gay and lesbian couples regain emotional and physical intimacy while overcoming jealousy. I have worked with individuals of all ages who feel paralyzed by their anxiety and keep themselves STUCK. They want more from their careers, partners, children and themselves but are afraid to make changes. I empower them to make those changes. I also work with women and men who have a poor body image and can’t break the vicious cycle of dieting and overeating. They become self destructive through their food addiction and feel great shame and self loathing. I help them develop a healthy relationship with food and their body so they can learn to love themselves again. I have helped children and adolescents learn coping strategies to address their anxieties about friends, school and their families. I conduct trainings for companies so employees can learn to have a better work/life balance and to manage stress more effectively. I have also led crisis workshops for employees dealing with various crises such as layoffs, deaths of coworkers and difficult supervisors.

I have also worked with inner city youth who have been victims of physical, emotional and sexual abuse in addition to my practice and have worked on a psychiatric unit that specializes in treating eating disorders and mood disorders.

I have participated as a relationship expert/sex therapist on WCBM radio to answer questions from callers who want to improve emotional and physical intimacy.

If you are struggling but have hesitated to get help, I would love to help you. My style is relaxed but direct. I will not just listen but I will offer suggestions that will create positive change in your life. You have to be motivated to want that change. Let me help you start living your life!
